Got acoustic/electric guitar ... how can i actually make it sound electric?

yeah i needed an electric guitar but fantastical peeps scored me a acoustic/electric guitar... the brand is "ESTEBAN" lol.. wtf??? and yeah it does not sound electric at all ... it is veeeery acoustic... umm i tried it with the amp but no luck.. just louder acoustic and then i tweaked the b and treb. and etc. but no luck... ummm yeah... is there anyway i can make this sound even vaugely electric? i cant really play hawthorne heights with acoustic lol... help?
