I need a new perspective on a debate i am having with a muslim friend at the moment?

There is a reason that in Western society religion is separate from state. When you have that much pion about certain beliefs, there is no compromise. I'm not saying we shouldn't all sing kumbaya, I really wish we could. But it will be a personal decision for muslims if they want to integrate into that type of culture. You cannot force religious sanctions on citizens of a free state it just will not work.
