Samsung vibrant hotspot free ?

i own a the Samsung vibrant for t-mobile and it is upgraded to android 2.2 froyo and as any android phone with 2.2 it features a mobile hotspot. i would like to use but i am concerned that i might mysteriously be charging myself without knowing, so bottomline, is it free?
