What am i doing wrong?

I have been with my current partner for 7yrs. My problem is that I do not know what to do next. He asked me to marry him 4yrs ago than took it back cause I paid for the ring, due to our commited finances. Lately he has become physical, he has a few drinks and I get hit, nothing serious only a hit on the arm or bottom which leaves a bruise. He also tells me I am too fat, ugly and i do not remember the last time we made love while he was sober, which has never been satisfying no matter what. What have I done wrong. I am not a barbie nor did I think I was a hippo but obviously I was wrong. He is always looking at skimmy and I feel like crap all the time.. What can I do , or do I even try to get us back on track?
