What size/shape surfboard would be best for me?

I am 27. 225 lbs. 6'1'', and a good athlete. I am looking for a used board on craigslist. I have snowboarded, wakeboarded and skated my whole life and just moved to southern VA. I will probably surf between Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks. I think I should be able to pick up on surfing fairly quick. I plan on taking a lesson or two. I would rather not buy a beginner board only to buy another in a year. I won't be riding super aggressively. Just want to get out ride, and enjoy the ocean. Spare me the don't buy a board off craigslist posts please.
