Hatred and intolerance? Surely not?

Why does there seem to be so much hatred and intolerance here on Answers? In the Religion and Spirituality section, that is. Whatever happened to respecting other people's opinions? Both sides in religion and spirituality discussions are treating the other with a lot of disdain and rudeness. Isn't Christianity supposed to be about love and peace? (For that matter, aren't most religions?) And isn't atheism supposed to be about open-mindedness? Instead it's just "You believe in God, so you're stupid" and "You don't believe in God, so you'll go to hell"
