Were the lives of the Kurds in Iraq more precious than those of Kurds in Turkey in the view of the US govt.?

It's just confusing that Saddam's atrocities against the Kurds was used as one of the justification for the war on Iraq. But if the lives of the Iraqi Kurds were so precious for the US government, why are the Kurds in Turkey less worthy of support? In fact, the USA supplies Turkey with weapons to commit atrocities on their Kurds. Is that just a huge misunderstanding? It can't be that the USA are using a double standard, can it?
